How much does a tradesperson’s website cost?
A useful website quote separates the build price from the cost of keeping the site running. At Melstone, a one-page website is £249 plus £25 a month for hosting. A full site of up to five pages is £499 plus £35 a month for hosting and updates.
Those are Melstone’s advertised packages, not an estimate of what every UK designer charges. Your final quote should spell out the pages, content and ongoing support you are buying.
Work out the full first-year cost
For monthly billing, use: setup fee + (monthly fee × 12) + any agreed extras. Here is that calculation for the packages on our pricing page.
| Package | Build | Monthly | First year* |
|---|---|---|---|
| One page | £249 | £25 | £549 |
| Full site | £499 | £35 | £919 |
| Growth | £999 | £60 | £1,719 |
| Ecommerce | £1,999 | £75 | £2,899 |
Choose the smallest site that answers your customers’ questions
A single page can suit a business with one clear service, a compact service area and a simple call or quote request. It still needs a description of the work, credible examples and an obvious way to contact you.
A multi-page site makes more sense when customers need different information for different jobs. A plumbing business might separate boiler installations from general plumbing repairs. A building firm might need space for several project examples. See our plumbing website service and websites for builders for how the content changes by trade.
Melstone’s Growth package adds on-page SEO setup, Google Business Profile and Maps integration, and an analytics dashboard to the Full Site package. That work does not guarantee rankings or a particular number of enquiries.
Compare the scope before comparing the price
- Pages and writing: Who supplies the text, and how many pages and revisions are included?
- Photos: Can you use your own work, and who checks permission to publish it?
- Ownership: Who controls the domain, and what happens to the website if you leave?
- Running costs: What do hosting, updates, email, domain renewals and booking tools cost separately?
- Enquiries: Where do form submissions go, and who tests their delivery?
- Search setup: Does the quote include titles, crawlable pages, a sitemap and Search Console setup, or ongoing content work as well?
- Handover: What support is included, and what is billed as extra work?
What should you prepare before requesting a price?
List your main services, the areas you cover, the jobs you most want and the contact method you can reliably answer. Add a few photos you have permission to use and any existing website address. Our trade website checklist turns that into a usable brief.
